His PhD work focused in developing novel Human-Machine Interfaces using video technology and computer vision techniques. After graduation he joined Vocalpoint Technologies, San Francisco, CA, where he worked on noise-robust speech recognition engines. He is currently with Evolution Robotics, Pasadena, CA, where he conducts research in computer vision algorithms for object recognition, robotics, and navigation. He has directed the Human-Robot Interface group at Evolution Robotics where he has developed a speech-based human-robot interface and a personality and emotional models for a robot. He also manages the software development efforts at Evolution Robotics. His research interests include machine vision, handwriting and speech recognition, human-computer interfaces, pattern recognition, machine learning, affective computing, robotics, and embedded systems.
